Extract .ipsw file from the dmg file: On Mac, double click on the file to mount the dmg file. In the Finder > Devices, you will see the new mount. On Windows, use a tool like 7-Zip. Open the .hfs inside the .dmg as well and copy the .ipsw file to your Desktop. Open iTunes and connect your device with your computer. In the Summary tab, hold down the option key (for Mac) or the shift key (for Windows) and click on the Check for Update button. Locate the .ipsw file and select it. Wait for the iOS 8 update to complete. When done, you can restore your device from any of the previous backups that you have.
