343 is certainly trying to make adding microtransactions sound like a benign, even helpful, feature, but let’s be real about what this is. After years of updates 343 finally got Halo MCC into a place where people are happy with it and are moving onto new things, so they’re quietly installing a new way to keep the cash flowing on the way out the door. Kudos to them for at least announcing it beforehand I suppose, but it is what it is....

Local co-op will not be a reality anymore, and instead, the resources meant for that will be put into other aspects of the project. This news comes from 343 Industries’ monthly Halo Infinite update, and at about 11:45 in this month’s iteration, Joseph Staten (creative lead on Halo Infinite) breaks the news. Local co-op being axed when previous Halo games had them is quite a baffling thought when you really think about it....

At the same time, the developer confirmed that the co-op Campaign mode won’t be added to Halo Infinite at the beginning of Season 2 as initially planned. 343 Industries is now planning to introduce co-op to the Campaign later in Season 2. The good news is that Forge doesn’t seem to have been affected by the aforementioned delay. 343 Industries said it is already flighting Forge with a small group of community creators to ensure a smooth experience creating, sharing, browsing, and playing Forge content....

Intel is launching the new Raptor Lake K-series CPUs next week on October 20th.
